Pre-Owned & Used Longines Watches For Sale

Watchmaker Auguste Agassiz founded Longines in the Swiss town of Saint-Imier in 1832. The company registered its logo, the winged hourglass, in 1889, and to this day it remains the oldest, active, unchanged registered trademark in existence. Longines quickly became one of the leading watch companies in the world, thanks in no small part to Agassiz’s family connections in the US. In 1852, Agassiz’s nephew, Ernest Francillon, joined the company; he gradually started taking charge. In 1867, the company produced its first movement. This was a 20-line calibre called the 20A. It had a pendant winding and setting mechanism and duly won an award at the Paris Universal Exhibition. The company signed technical partnerships with Formula1 teams Ferrari and Renault before becoming the official timekeeper of F1 races for ten years during the 1980s. In 1983, Longines became a part of the Swatch Group, while in 1992, the Longines Museum was opened at the Swatch Group headquarters to celebrate its 160th year. Longines continues to be a brand that is synonymous with style and elegance, and its watches have long been, and continue to be, popular with watch lovers and collectors. Now, thanks to Mark Worthington Jewellers, you could be the proud owner of your own luxury timepiece from Longines.
